I wanted to write something after witnessing the best Sunday in Major golf I can remember. I just haven’t got round to it yet. And now I read this! Really well written and I agree with all of it. Great stuff!
I’m very lucky having a lad who loves golf! It’s his number 3 sport but he plays off 17 and we have lovely evenings at Saunton. He’s off to Nee Zealand for a year in a few weeks (Uni Placement year) and I’ll miss those games. Got to get the 9 year old on the course!
That’s good to know Andy. My boys have very different approaches to the game, albeit they’re in the very earliest stages. I just hope they’re bitten by the bug at some point.
Enjoyed reading this as it very much sums up my feelings about these 2 great golfers and as for the late night, it knocked me out of sync for the rest of the week but would not have missed the drama it gave me.
I hope that your children continue to show and interest in the game of golf, it’s certainly character building. Thanks for writing 👍
Enjoyable read, Dan. I agree. Sport means so much more to the majority of us than watching top narsicistic stars earning mega-bucks. It's best shared with everyone - young, old, rich or poor.
You're right about playing golf in Scotland too - it's special. I've so many precious memories of playimg at the Home of Golf with my late Dad.
I also remember watching the British Open on the BBC with my family and enjoying the gentle, quirky commentary supplied by the late Peter Aliss.
Unfortunately, I could only listen to this year's Masters on the radiio on BBC6 - which saddens me, but I hope to watch Rory's epic last round win on replay somewhen soon.
I should say that I enjoyed BBC6's coverage, but I'm sure I'm not alone in longing for a return to the broadcasting of major golf tournaments - and the partisan Ryder Cup - on Aunty Beeb?
Enjoyed this as ever DD. Rory’s achievement had me talking about taking up golf with some other new dads yesterday - definitely seems to have cut through beyond usual fans!
Wonderful, as always, Daniel.

Sadly, I don’t think the Masters is going to be televised on the BBC any time soon Hilary
Written with passion - great article Dan
Thanks pal. Fancy an evening knock at RNGC next week?
